Week 5 Football Previews

Pueblo County @ Liberty
(Thursday 7pm, District 20 Stadium)
The undefeated Hornets (4-0, 2-0) look to continue their fast start against the Liberty Lancers (1-3, 1-1). County is coming off back to back running clock wins against Pueblo foes South and Central.
More good news for County, as Senior RB Brady Ware returned from injury, accounting for 72 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on just 6 carries.
Liberty is coming off their first win of the season against Falcon and a bye week, but the No. 3 ranked Hornets are probably just too much to handle.
Pueblo South @ Pueblo Central
(Friday 7pm, Dutch Clark Stadium)
The only inner-city matchup of the week is a good one, as the Colts (3-2, 2-1) take on the Wildcats (2-2, 1-1) in a battle for the southside.
Central is coming off of a big loss to county, while the Colts recovered from their trip to the Mesa with a 28-7 win over Canon City. Israel Allen led the way with 7 catches for 136 yards and 3 touchdowns.
We know that South will be throwing the football, but look for Central to counter with sophomore WR EJ Casaus. Casaus has made the most of his 5 catches, turning them into 204 yards and 4 scores.
South is the home team in this one, so Central will be sitting on the opposite sideline than normal.
Pueblo West @ Palmer Ridge
(Friday 7pm, Don Breese Stadium)
This is one we have been waiting for! Pueblo West (3-1, 1-0) will head to Monument to take on the #1 ranked 3A team in the state. Palmer Ridge (4-0, 1-0) was in the 4A state championship a year ago, so they should be used to this level of competition.
The Cyclones spread the ball around last week in a 51-0 victory over Widefield. Look for them to lean on their running game, led by QB Chase Harrison, RB Maddox Guerrero, and FB Chance Chamberlain. The trio has combined for 14 touchdowns on the ground this season.
Palmer Ridge is more pass heavy, led by the Senior connection of QB Knox Tinlin (754 Passing Yards, 8 TDs) and WR Zac Crisler (31 Rec, 449 yards, 3 TDs).
Pueblo East @ Falcon
(Friday 7pm, Falcon High School)
This is a battle between two teams trending in the opposite direction. East (4-1, 3-0) is coming off 4 straight wins, while Falcon (0-5, 0-3) has lost 3 straight games by 30+ points.
The Eagles ran past Discover Canyon 45-3 last week, with 4 different ball carriers (Dolphka Lewis 3, Logan Trujillo, Dylan Cooper, Chris Bachicha) finding the endzone.
Look for the Eagles to avoid looking ahead to next week’s Cannon Game, and take care of business against the reeling Falcon Falcons.
Pueblo Centennial @ Adams City
(Friday 7pm, Adams City High School)
Pueblo Centennial got off the schneid last week, earning a big 16-2 victory over the Littleton Lions. This is another winnable spot for the Bulldogs (1-3, 1-0), against the 0-4 Eagles of Adams City.
Last week the Centennial defense came to play, holding Littleton to just 81 yards of total offense. We will see if their defense can travel up north to shut down another league opponent.
