Pueblo Central vs Liberty
(Thursday 7pm, Dutch Clark Stadium)
Central (2-3, 1-2) gets the week started with a Thursday night league game against the Lancers (1-4, 1-2). Both teams are coming off big losses, and will be more than motivated to bounce back and move ahead of one another in the standings.
The Cats have somewhat of a youth movement going on, as not a single senior touched the football on offense last week against South.
Freshman QB/RB Sonny Vigil was a bright spot last week, rushing for 130 yards and throwing for an additional 19 yards.
Central will look to finish drives this week, and get back to the winning column.
Pueblo County vs Lewis Palmer
(Friday 7pm, County High School)
It has been a while since the Hornets (5-0, 3-0) have been tested, winning 3 games in a row by 40+ points. We will see if the Lewis-Palmer (2-3, 2-1) turnaround is real, as they have won two straight league games.
County has been dominant on the ground, rushing for 9.1 yards per carry and 22 touchdowns as a team. When they do decide to pass, Senior Slot Back Duane Spence has been their go to guy. Last week against Liberty, Spence corralled 7 passes for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Lewis Palmer will respond with RB Gregory Moore. He is currently 2nd in all of 3A with 930 rushing yards to date.
If County can contain Moore, expect another big win for the Hornets.
Pueblo West vs Durango
(Friday 6pm, Pueblo West High School)
Pueblo West (3-2, 1-0) has no time to lick their wounds from last week’s loss to 3A #1 Palmer Ridge, as league opponent Durango (3-2, 1-0) makes their way into town.
With identical records, this one could go a long way for league positioning at the end of the season.
Pueblo West is a perfect 2-0 at home, and will look to protect Cyclone Alley once again. Look for the usual Pueblo West to be up for this one, and get back to their winning ways.
Pueblo Centennial @ Harrison
(Friday 7pm, Harrison High School)
After a big win against Littleton, the Bulldogs (1-4, 1-1) unfortunately fell to Adams City on the road last week. They will have to turn the page quickly, as their attention now goes to Harrison (2-3, 1-0).
The Bulldogs will rely on the carries from Augustine Sena and David Madrid against the Panthers.
Harrison has faced the exact same two league opponents as Centennial to start, going 2-0 in convincing fashion.
